Young people transitioning from care as key collaborators for implementing policy reform

(Victorian Youth Strategy Submission)

This submission draws from the authors’ extensive experience working with young people who have lived in out-of-home care. The authors have closely followed local and international developments in out-of-home care and transitions from care policy and research and believe that Victoria is in a position to lead the world in best practice in transitioning from care support. These supports are constrained by the context of other state and federal services however. This submission presents the authors’ ideas in development about how care leavers’ lived experience can help in co-design and co-implementation of more responsive, accessible, cost-effective and efficient services.
